ONE Championship returns to the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Friday, 6 December with its final star-studded card of the year.
ONE: MARK OF GREATNESS features a pair of kickboxing World Title matches and an undercard stacked with the brightest martial artists from across the globe.
As we gear up for an epic night in the Malaysian capital, here are three performances from some of the heroes who will step into the Circle on 6 December.
Sam-A Gaiyanghadao’s Highlight-Reel KO
With a 367-47-9 professional record, Sam-A Gaiyanghadao is one of the greatest Muay Thai athletes of all time.
Earlier in October at ONE: CENTURY, the Thai legend added to his growing list of accolades with a sensational knockout that put away French challenger Daren Rolland in the second round.
Both men put forth a display of striking in an intense first round, but it was Sam-A who got the first drop on Rolland with a straight left hand.
Even though the Frenchman returned the favor moments later with a hard right, Sam-A recovered quickly and sprung back to his feet.
Round two saw a different game unfold as the Evolve representative started to lay down the pain with some bruising leg kicks.
As Rolland lunged forward to strike, Sam-A evaded and uncorked a short-left hand, which knocked him out. The referee stepped in to stop the action at just 1:20 of round two.
Sam-A will face Chinese sensation “Golden Boy” Wang Junguang on Friday for the inaugural ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Title.
Ryuto Sawada’s Devastating First Impression
Ryuto “Dragon Boy” Sawada wasted little time in his debut by setting the ONE Championship world on fire.
The Singapore-based Japanese athlete used his famed wrestling ability to dominate Indonesian opponent Aziz “The Krauser” Calim and easily finish him in the first round.
The 23-year-old racked up yet another submission victory with this win, after back-to-back submissions on Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series.
Sawada saw a left punch coming, dodged, and went in for the takedown. With Calim on his back, Sawada mounted his rival and locked in a rear-naked choke to force the tap just 69 seconds into the first round.
The Evolve representative has a chance to do it all over again when he meets South African flyweight sensation Bokang Masunyane on Friday.
Alaverdi “Babyface Killer” Ramazanov’s Bout-Ending Techniques
In August, Alaverdi “Babyface Killer” Ramazanov got the emphatic victory in his battle over Ognjen Topic, and the Russian ace delivered his win in style by dropping his Serbian-American rival three times.
The two strikers went head-to-head in a ONE Super Series Muay Thai bantamweight contest, but it was Ramazanov who controlled most of the action throughout.
Ramazanov set the tone early with a huge front kick to Topic’s face, who tried to counter with a sweep. The Russian anticipated this and shot a quick right hand, which dropped his rival to the mat. However, Topic was able to answer the referee’s count.
Again, “Babyface Killer” connected with a well-timed left hook, which sent Topic down to the canvas. But his rival recovered yet again.
Seconds later, the Russian warrior put away his opponent for good with a stiff straight right. This time, Topic was finally out for the count.
Ramazanov is on the brink of World Title glory at ONE: MARK OF GREATNESS. He faces Top King Muay Thai World Champion Zhang Chenglong in Malaysia for the ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Championship.
For one last time this year, ONE Championship returns to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for ONE: MARK OF GREATNESS at the Axiata Arena on 6 December.
