ONE Championship’s penultimate show of 2019 delivered a thrilling night of action in the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday, 22 November.

ONE: EDGE OF GREATNESS was packed with non-stop action from start to finish, as local stars and international heroes entertained with incredible mixed martial arts and Muay Thai performances.

Here are three of the top highlights from Friday night’s action.

Nong-O Gaiyanghadao Retains The Gold After Stunning Knockout

In a battle between two great nak muay, it was Nong-O Gaiyanghadao who stood tallest as he knocked out compatriot Saemapetch Fairtex in the fourth-round to successfully defend his ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title.

The Muay Thai icon seized control early and began to throw his trademark right kicks, all while letting fly his punishing right hands. Saemapetch, in return, traded heavy leather with the World Champion, but twice he was stung by painful overhand rights that left him reeling backwards.

Inside the final minute of the first frame, Nong-O uncorked a beautiful cross and slipped another two uppercuts to drop Saemapetch to the canvas.

The Fairtex representative answered the referee’s count, but yet again he fell victim to a punishing uppercut that left him floored. Amazingly, Saemapetch recovered and hung tough.

Saemapetch roared to life in the second stanza and ripped Nong-O’s body with thudding kicks, and he countered his fellow Thai with crisp right hook-left cross combinations.

As the rounds wore on, it looked like Saemapetch finally found his rhythm as he began to establish his jab and drive forward. But that would be quickly undone. Out of nowhere, the Muay Thai legend snuck in a powerful right hand that knocked Saemapetch out, bringing a swift end to the contest in the fourth stanza.

With that one powerful strike, Nong-O successfully retained the gold and continued his reign as the division’s king.

Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke Finishes ‘The Spider’

Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke, the 41-year-old Thai legend. showed that age was just a number in his dominant win against Muhammad “The Spider” Imran.

He showcased his Muay Thai expertise from the onset, as he threw pair after pair of inside and outside leg kicks that kept Imran on the defensive front in the first frame.

Going into the second round, the Evolve representative continued to pressure his Pakistani rival. Imran, however, rallied with overhand rights to close out the round.

The two men went all-out in an explosive third and final round. The Singapore-based martial artist was the first to strike. He launched a roundhouse kick, clinched up his foe, and connected with bruising knees to Imran’s ribs and head.

A series of follow-up ground and pound from the Thai hero was enough to leave “The Spider” covered up as he tried to weather the storm. By that point, however, the damage was already done.

The referee stepped in and called an end to the action at the 1:21 mark of round three, giving the former ONE Strawweight World Champion the knockout victory.

Rahul Raju Ascends With Another Brilliant Submission Win

Rahul “The Kerala Krusher” Raju scored a sensational submission victory in front of his adopted home fans in Singapore.

The Juggernaut Fight Club representative put away his rival Furqan “The Lion” Cheema with a rear-naked choke in the second round.

Early on, Raju looked to be the more active of the two as he attempted to close the distance and bring Cheema down to the ground. However, the Pakistani showed good defense to stay upright.

In response, Raju continued to pressure with striking combinations while searching for the takedown.

In the second round, the Indian’s patience was rewarded as he evaded incoming punches and scored a well-timed double-leg takedown to bring Cheema to the canvas.

Once there, “The Kerala Krusher” moved to his opponent’s back, sunk in the rear-naked choke, and forced the tap with three minutes left on the clock in the second frame.

With this victory, Raju improved to 7-4 and now owns back-to-back wins on his resume.
