Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov said he dreams of smashing Conor McGregor and again referred to the Irishman as "a chicken" in a promotional video for their UFC bout.

The Russian will finally have the opportunity to face former title-holder McGregor at UFC 229 on October 6.

McGregor has been out of the UFC since 2016, but both fighters have repeatedly talked up a rivalry ahead of setting up this mammoth clash on his return.

And in a promotional piece produced by the UFC, Nurmagomedov has repeated earlier comparisons between his opponent and a chicken, while dismissing McGregor's chances of victory.

"This fight is the biggest fight in UFC history," he said. "People want to watch this fight.

"Conor is magnified. He's very popular, he has a big name, but he has only one chance: a lucky punch. He has only a left hand and that's it. [He should] worry about the wrestling, worry about the grappling.

"My dream is to smash this guy. My dream is to make this guy like a chicken inside a cage. I want the cage closed, then you'll see everything. I don't see how he can beat me."
