Although he hails from a small town in France, Brice “The Truck” Delval is not afraid to set global goals for himself.

On Friday, 6 September, Delval will be on the cusp of achieving his biggest goal yet – to become a Muay Thai World Champion in ONE Championship.

“The Truck” challenges Nong-O Gaiyanghadao for the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title at ONE: IMMORTAL TRIUMPH inside the Phu Tho Indoor Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Going face to face with a legend in the sport might be a big task for any ordinary competitor, but not for the Mahmoudi Gym representative. He prepared all his life for this moment.

The 20-year-old Muay Thai sensation sacrificed much along the way in pursuit of his martial arts dreams.

Delval knew early on that martial arts was his calling, and the French youngster dedicated himself fully to training.

This meant a restricted social life, and as a result, “The Truck” did not have many friends around him.

Unlike other teenagers, Delval devoted much of his youth to intense training. He would skip parties and wake up early to maintain a strict regimen.

The success he accumulated in the amateurs made the Frenchman hungry for more opportunities to compete.

Already more disciplined and focused than his peers, “The Truck” had no qualms about moving to Paris to further his career.

Uprooting himself from a familiar environment, Delval found himself alone and far from home in the metropolitan city.

However, family was not far behind. In the Mahmoudi Gym where he now trains, the 20-year-old quickly surrounded himself with supportive friends, coaches, and teammates.

He saw the improvements he had long craved, and as he expected, his career began to take off.

Delval started to travel internationally for tournaments. This marked the start of his successful run in Muay Thai.

“The Truck” soon captured an amateur Muay Thai World Title in the United States.

The wheels of his success were in motion, and not long after, Delval rolled toward another goal – winning his first major World Title, the S-1 Championship, in Bangkok, Thailand.

Although just 17 years old at the time, Delval’s reputation and performances quickly garnered attention from fans around the world.

In recognition of his performances and undeniable talent, ONE Championship signed the Frenchman, and now he could achieve yet another milestone in his young career.

Delval feels little pressure despite the obvious challenges ahead. He competes on the global stage against a hero of the sport and travels to a country he has never been to – Vietnam.

If his past history is a precursor of things to come, “The Truck” figures he will do just fine. He is backed by good coaches and trusts the game plan they have put in place.

All that remains is the French athlete’s desire to execute on the biggest stage and in the biggest match of his life.

ONE Championship’s next event, ONE: IMMORTAL TRIUMPH, takes place on 6 September in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
