Brice Delval already has one belt around his waist, but the 20-year-old would like nothing more than being called a World Champion in ONE Championship.

Delval will challenge reigning titleholder Nong-O Gaiyanghadao for the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title in the main event of ONE: IMMORTAL TRIUMPH on Friday, 6 September. The show takes place at the Phu Tho Indoor Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The S1 World Champion has been preparing for this incredible test at Mahmoudi Gym in Bonneuil-sur-Marne with ONE superstar Elias “The Sniper” Mahmoudi.

“It will be very tough, but I have trained for this and I’ll be ready,” Delval said.

“I have some very good coaches with me and they’ve come up with a great game plan. I think my performance will be beautiful.”

Still very new to the world of combat sports, Delval has already found ONE Championship to be a great base for growing his name and becoming a bigger star on a global level. He won the S-1 World Title at just 17 years old in Bangkok, Thailand.

“In the beginning, as an amateur, it was financially difficult,” he said.

“I earned almost nothing. But when I moved to Thailand and won my World Title, I started to fight in larger organizations and began earning more.

“I have a lot of fans around the world. There were times I was in Bangkok and people recognized me. They came to take a picture with me. They had recognized me because of ONE Championship.”

But admiration from fans is far from Delval’s reason for devoting himself to a life of training and competing.

Delval grew up in Reunion Island, a region of France located in the Indian Ocean east of Madagascar.

“I left to go to France and develop my boxing,” he said.

“I had far fewer friends than usual, and I didn’t go out a lot. My career really started when I arrived at the Mahmoudi Gym in Paris. In my first year there, I went to the United States with my coach to fight for an amateur World Title and I won. It gave me even more motivation and strength to carry on.

“I won my first [pro] World Title at the age of 17 in Bangkok — my S-1 belt. It made me stronger. My coaches were always there for me and they never let me down.”

Now, Delval wants to give his family another World Title to put in the trophy case.

“My motivation is to make my mother and father proud,” he added.

“To show them that all the sacrifices they made were not in vain and that I’m going to succeed in what I do.”
