On Friday, 6 September, The Home Of Martial Arts will host its first-ever live event in Vietnam.

ONE: IMMORTAL TRIUMPH will showcase the beauty of ONE Super Series to Vietnamese martial arts fans inside the Phu Tho Indoor Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City.

The event boasts an elite lineup of strikers across different disciplines of martial arts, including Muay Thai, kickboxing, karate, and more.

Before the superstar athletes converge onto Vietnam’s capital, here are three reasons why Singaporeans should not miss this incredible night.

#1 Nong-O Gaiyanghadao’s World Title Defense

ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao makes his second World Title defense against rising star Brice “The Truck” Delval.

Since he arrived on the global stage in April 2018, Nong-O has been on a tear, compiling a four-bout win streak in ONE Super Series.

The Singapore resident has traded leather with some of the sport’s finest competitors, such as French stars Fabio Pinca and Mehdi Zatout, both of whom he beat. He then captured the World Title after he defeated Chinese sensation Han Zi Hao in February.

Back in May, the Evolve representative successfully retained the gold after he demolished Hiroaki Suzuki in an excellent display of Muay Thai.

Nong-O now faces Delval, an S1 World Champion who is keen to make a statement in his promotional debut.

The French-Algerian phenom may have youth on his side for this encounter, but he will no doubt face the toughest challenge in his young career.

Anything is possible and each man will get an opportunity to make his mark, either by continuing a legacy as the best bantamweight in Muay Thai or starting a lineage as a new World Champion.

#2 A Perfect Storm When Bi Nguyen Meets Puja “The Cyclone” Tomar

Two of the most exciting talents in women’s Muay Thai today meet in an epic atomweight clash. Bi “Killer Bee” Nguyen faces Puja “The Cyclone” Tomar on the main card of ONE: IMMORTAL TRIUMPH.

Vietnamese-American Nguyen is one of the atomweight division’s brightest stars. The Legacy FC Champion turned professional in 2016, and her fiery performances have quickly caught on with fans everywhere.

Nguyen credits martial arts with helping her rehabilitate from an abusive relationship. The 29-year-old now wants to carve out her legacy on the global stage for martial arts and be a source of hope for other women.

Before she can move a step closer to her aspirations, “Killer Bee” has to contend with another female star on the rise, Indian sensation Puja “The Cyclone” Tomar.

A multiple-time Indian national wushu champion, Tomar is an extremely talented athlete with proven experience at the highest levels of competition.

The 25-year-old Indian has momentum on her side, and she stunned Indonesian fans when she defeated hometown favorite Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol in their three-round thriller back in January.

Expect heavy strikes and explosive displays of athleticism when these two women face off.

#3 Singtongnoi Continues His Amazing Comeback From Cancer

In what was the feel-good martial arts story of yesteryear, Muay Thai legend Singtongnoi Por Telakun survived chemotherapy and cancer to return to the Circle where he belonged.

At ONE: IMMORTAL TRIUMPH, the Thai native faces Japanese athlete “Momotaro” as he continues his amazing comeback.

Given the tremendous adversity he had to overcome, it is hard to bet against Singtongnoi. The Singapore resident staged a remarkable return to the Circle, defeating Italy’s Joseph “Hurricane” Lasiri in May 2018.

A decisive win in Vietnam will squash all doubts and elevate the 38-year-old’s standing in the Muay Thai flyweight divisional rankings.

“Momotaro” has plans of his own, however. The karate star first wowed fans in March with his trademark unorthodox striking when he defeated Kenny Tse in his promotional debut.

If he defeats the Thai warrior, who is a known legend in the sport, “Momotaro” will have the opportunity to start his own legacy.

ONE Championship’s next event, ONE: IMMORTAL TRIUMPH, takes place on 6 September in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.

Watch the main card on Toggle at 9:30pm Singapore Standard Time (SGT). At 10:00pm SGT, Channel 5 will cut into the live broadcast.
