On Friday, 22 November, ONE: EDGE OF GREATNESS brought fans to the edge of their seats.

Those in attendance and watching live from all over the world witnessed local heroes and international stars showcase their skills inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Now, just days removed from the show, here are three lessons we learned from watching them go to battle at ONE Championship’s latest event.

A Resurgent Rahul Raju Puts The Division On Notice

After a rough start to his ONE campaign, Rahul “The Kerala Krusher” Raju has turned a corner.

Thanks to an incredible submission finish of Furqan “The Lion” Cheema at ONE: EDGE OF GREATNESS, the Singapore-based Indian martial artist now has back-to-back wins.

A newly-minted BJJ brown belt, Raju has showcased his impressive grappling chops in his past two victories.

The Juggernaut Fight Club representative is still only 10 bouts into this martial arts career, but he has already shown drastic improvements.

If “The Kerala Krusher” can continue to build upon his win streak, the rest of the lightweight division will have to contend with a powerful challenger for the foreseeable future.

Alex Silva Is Building Serious Momentum

Former ONE Strawweight World Champion Alex “Little Rock” Silva’s career has thrived ever since he reconnected with his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu roots.

After a crushing string of losses, the Brazilian maestro chose to fall back on his famed BJJ expertise. It paid dividends as Silva recorded two back-to-back armbar submission wins to close out 2019 in style.

On Friday, “Little Rock” had to deal with the dangerous grappling of Chinese athlete Peng Xue Wen. Just when it seemed like he was troubled by Peng’s ferocious striking, the Brazilian switched gears and went on the offensive.

The Evolve representative persisted with his takedowns and grappling to methodically take the contest to the canvas. From there, he proved he could bend any opponent at will.

Silva seems to have found his groove and every win brings him closer to a World Title shot.

Nong-O Gaiyanghadao Has No Equal

Muay Thai legend Nong-O Gaiyanghadao’s greatness was on full display at ONE: EDGE OF GREATNESS.

He dispatched compatriot Saemapetch Fairtex with a fourth-round knockout to retain his ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title.

Nong-O’s experience and skill have mostly set him apart from many of his younger challengers, but the Thai’s level of Muay Thai mastery is undisputed.

After he served a few powerful uppercuts that dropped the Fairtex representative early in the bout, Nong-O turned on the gas and finished his rival with a pinpoint right-cross to end the match with a bang.

By taking out everyone who has come his way, the 32-year-old has established himself as the division’s leading man. Whoever decides to step up next will need to be careful, because as it stands now, Nong-O has no equal.
