Martial arts fans have much to digest after all the action that took place at ONE: DAWN OF VALOR from the Istora Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia on Friday, 25 October.

Local heroes prospered, international stars continued to shine, and a new World Champion was crowned.

Among the many exciting moments, which showcased Indonesia’s many new talents and rising stars, here are three takeaways from this amazing night.

Kiamrian Abbasov Is The Real Deal

Many fans inside the Istora Senayan had expected a competitive main event between former ONE Welterweight World Champion Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam and challenger Kiamrian “Brazen” Abbasov.

But few could believe the action that unfolded before their eyes as Abbasov dominated Kadestam for the better part of five rounds and snatched the gold with a unanimous decision win.

In his first World Title challenge in ONE Championship, Abbasov suffocated Kadestam with his grueling ground game.

“Brazen” took “The Bandit” for a ride. He executed powerful double-leg takedowns and trips, and he unloaded strikes that knocked the wind out of his rival.

The Kyrgyzstan athlete beautifully deployed his boxing, but it was his grappling that shut down the offense from the fatigued Kadestam.

Now that Abbasov is the best welterweight in ONE, it will be interesting to see who can challenge his wrestling pedigree in 2020.

Regian “The Immortal” Eersel Is The Future Of His Division

In a rematch against compatriot Nieky “The Natural” Holzken, Regian “The Immortal” Eersel established himself as the best lightweight kickboxer in ONE Super Series.

Eersel defeated Holzken by unanimous decision to keep his ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Title.

“The Immortal” improved since their first showdown in May. His strikes shut down Holzken and kept the Helmond native on the defense throughout their five-round battle.

Eersel’s spectacular striking and composure against Holzken proved he is, unquestionably, the future of this division.

Indonesian Athletes Showcase Their Talent

Indonesians had much to cheer for at ONE: DAWN OF VALOR as their homegrown martial artists produced memorable performances.

Six Indonesian athletes won in front of their passionate home crowd.

“Zenwalk” Adi Paryanto kicked the evening off for Indonesia with a quick-fire win.

Rising stars Elipitua “The Magician” Siregar and Abro “The Black Komodo” Fernandes followed with spectacular victories of their own.

Stefer “The Lion” Rahardian dominated his opponent, and national freestyle wrestling champion Eko Roni Saputra picked up a 19-second victory to bring the tally to five wins for Indonesian athletes.

The largest cheers were reserved for Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol, who emerged with a hard-earned decision win after a thrilling battle against Bozhena “Toto” Antoniyar.

If these athletes continue to improve, fans will be in for a treat when ONE Championship returns to Indonesia next year.
