Blackhawks win seventh straight, Blue Jackets edge Ducks

The Chicago Blackhawks' winning streak in the NHL continued, while the Columbus Blue Jackets had an overtime victory.

The Blackhawks made it seven straight victories with a hard-fought 2-1 win over the St Louis Blues after OT.

The Blue Jackets edged past the Anaheim Ducks 3-2 after overtime, having earlier given up a two-goal advantage.

Wednesday's only other game saw the Ottawa Senators overcome the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 in a shoot-out.

The Blackhawks' stunning start to the season continued.

Even after Alex Pietrangelo had forced OT by cancelling out Marian Hossa's goal, Chicago came out victors.

Artemi Panarin struck the decisive goal just 25 seconds into overtime.

Boone Jenner and Brandon Saad had the Blue Jackets in control against the Ducks with first-period goals.

However, Rickard Rakell and Nick Ritchie forced the game into overtime, during which Zach Werenski was the hero with his goal one minute, 21 seconds in.

The Montreal Canadiens have been almost unstoppable this season and put their 11-1-1 record to the test against the Los Angeles Kings (7-6-0) on Thursday.
