The Malaysia national men's hockey team were handed a 7-0 thrashing by England in their opening match of the 2018 Commonwealth Games on Friday.
England, who beat the Speedy Tigers 7-2 recently at the 2018 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, secured the dominant win courtesy of braces from Sam Ward and Mark Gleghorne as well as strikes from David Goodfield, Harry Martin and Phil Roper.
Malaysia had to weather an early onslaught of penalty corners, giving away three in the first three minutes, but the defence managed to stand firm before eventually conceding the first goal of the day when Ward poked home a cross from close range.
England then asserted their dominance in the second quarter with three goals to go into half-time with a 4-0 lead.
Stephen van Huizen's team managed to get through the third quarter unscathed, but the floodgates reopened in the final quarter.
Malaysia, who finished the game without making a single goal attempt, will next meet Wales on Saturday.
