Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Radko Gudas has been suspended for 10 games for slashing Winnipeg Jets forward Mathieu Perreault to the head on Thursday.

The incident occurred nine minutes, 50 seconds into the first period. Six players, three from each side, battled for a loose puck in the corner of the Flyers zone.

Gudas lost his helmet while engaged with Perreault and proceeded to swing his stick in a chopping motion on the back of Perreault's helmeted head as the Jets forward fell to the ice.

It is the third time Gudas has been suspended for his violent play.

In October 2016, the league suspended him six games for his reckless hit on Boston's Austin Czarnik. He also was suspended three games in December 2015 for a hit to the head of Mika Zibanejad, who then played for the Ottawa Senators and now for the New York Rangers.
