Tiger Woods rolled in an eagle putt at the 18th to sign for a five-under-par 65 and take a share of the clubhouse lead at the Tour Championship.

The 14-time major winner, bidding for his first PGA Tour win in five years at East Lake, sunk a 27-footer to join Rickie Fowler at the top of the leaderboard.

Woods, who will represent the United States at next week's Ryder Cup, recovered from a bogey at the first and made back-to-back birdies at five and six.

Further gains at 12 and 14 put him in contention before his three on the par-five 18th moved him alongside compatriot Fowler.
