Unheralded American Aaron Wise broke through for his first PGA Tour win by claiming the AT&T Byron Nelson title.
Wise cruised to a three-stroke victory at 23 under in Dallas on Sunday as he sealed his maiden championship.
The 21-year-old carded a six-under-par 65 during the final round to hold of nearest challenger Marc Leishman at Trinity Forest Golf Club.
Wise started final round tied atop the leaderboard with Leishman, but he raced ahead of the Australian courtesy of six birdies in his opening 10 holes.
The rookie – who finished tied for second at the Wells Fargo Championship earlier this month – was flawless on the back nine as he hoisted the trophy aloft.
Still an outsider for the Ryder Cup, Wise has thrown himself into the lead for Rookie of the Year.
"It's a dream come true to win this one," Wise said afterwards.
Leishman – who posted a career-low 61 in round one – finished second after firing a three-under 68 on the final day of play.
South African Branden Grace tied a career-best round on his 30th birthday.
Grace shot a nine-under 62 with eight birdies, an eagle and a bogey as he finished alongside Keith Mitchell (63) and J.J. Spaun (63) for third.
Jimmy Walker (67), Ryan Blaum (66) and Kevin Na (68) tied for sixth at 16 under, a shot ahead of former world number one Adam Scott (65).
Meanwhile, three-time major champion Jordan Spieth finished 12 shots off the pace.
American star Spieth recorded a final-round 67 to be tied for 21st.
