Tony Romo is headed back to Dallas.

The former Cowboys quarterback is set to play the First Stage of the Web.com Tour’s qualifying tournament Sept. 25-28 at Firewheel at Garland Bridges Golf Club in Garland, Texas, the tour announced Wednesday.

That course is less than 40 miles from the Cowboys' AT&T Stadium.

"I’m excited to be playing in Dallas for the next stage of Q-School," Romo said in a release. "I know it’s going to be tough to advance to the next stage with so many talented players, but I love competing against the best and having to be at your best when you need it. That’s why we love sports. Let’s see what happens!"

Romo advanced to Web.com Tour First Stage qualifying Aug. 31 after Tomo Watanabe of Japan was disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecard.

"Coming out here, I've been playing some pretty good golf, so I wanted to see where the game finished at the end of the summer," Romo said afterward. "Then we'll have a good six months to practice and get ourselves ready. I've been practicing for about four or five months, so just starting to practice real golf and there's a lot of improvement that has happened, so I'm excited."

The 12 First Stage fields will be set this week and the 72-hole events are scheduled for late September and early October.
