Rickie Fowler put on an amusing spectacle for spectators at The Players Championship on Friday when his wayward tee shot landed in a tree.

The American went right off the sixth tee – his 14th hole – and lost his ball in the canopy, Fowler then borrowing some binoculars in an attempt to identify it.

Despite his best efforts – and those of fans shaking the tree trunk – the 29-year-old could not determine for certain that it was his ball wedged in the greenery and had to suffer the consequences of a dropped shot.

Fowler went on to card a double-bogey six, putting him dangerously close to the projected cut mark.
