Johnson sympathises with anyone competing against him and Koepka

World number one Dustin Johnson feels bad for anyone who would have to face him and three-time major winner Brooks Koepka at the Ryder Cup.

Johnson and fellow American star Koepka have been two of the most successful golfers over the last couple years, and could combine to form a lethal partnership at the Ryder Cup in France next month.

Winner of three PGA Tour titles this season, Johnson is second in the FedEx Cup standings. Meanwhile, Koepka added his second and third major championship titles in 2018 despite missing more than four months with a wrist injury.

Johnson and Koepka were paired together once by Davis Love III in the 2016 Ryder Cup, but they fell 3 & 1 to Thomas Pieters and Rory McIlroy.

Johnson is certain the two would do better this time around as he prepares for the Dell Technologies Championship – the second FedEx Cup play-off event.

"I'm definitely looking forward to hopefully or possibly partnering up with Brooks," Johnson said.

"I think we'd make a pretty good team. And I feel bad for anyone who would have to play us."

Both Johnson and Koepka have already qualified for the 2018 Ryder Cup, so pairing discussions could have already taken place between them.

While neither are at their best on the greens, both have improved enough as putters to perform well together in any format.
