Hail Mary: Tony Romo 10,000-1 pick to win PGA Tour’s Byron Nelson

So much for the home-field advantage.

Former Cowboys quarterback turned TV analyst (and PGA Tour wannabe) Tony Romo opened as a 10,000-1 shot at at Westgate's SuperBook in Las Vegas (via ESPN.com) to win this week's AT&T Byron Nelson at Dallas' Trinity Forest Golf Club, where he's a member. 

Oddsmakers at Caesars Entertainment sportsbook are a bit more optimistic, putting Romo's odds at 2,000-1.

This week's stop marks Romo's third PGA Tour event. He missed the cut in the first two, and he'll be facing much stiffer competition in Dallas.

Asked of his expectations for the week, Romo told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on Monday that "you really have none."

Still, he's undaunted. 

"If you want to compete, you want to play against the best," he said. "Obviously I understand where I'm at comparatively to the guys in this field. These are the best of the best."

The SuperBook set the over/under on Romo's first round Thursday at 77.5. His lowest score in his four rounds in a PGA Tour event is 77.

Brooks Koepka, at 13-2, opened as the favorite at this year's Byron Nelson, followed by Hideki Matsuyama at 16-1 and hometown favorite Jordan Spieth at 18-1.
