A fine second round at the Rocco Forte Open saw Julien Guerrier surge up the standings and join Lucas Bjerregaard in taking a one-shot lead in seriously windy conditions.

Guerrier carded a blemish-free 65 to move onto nine under for the tournament, leaving him level with Bjerregaard after the Dane paid the price for a pair of bogeys in Sicily.

Steven Brown and Ryan Evans, the latter having shared the overnight lead with Bjerregaard, are joint-third, while Mike Lorenzo-Vera produced the low-round of the day – a seven-under 64 – to surge up 28 places and sit fifth.

Guerrier, who regained his playing privileges via the Challenge Tour last year and has two top-10 finishes to his name this season, is the only player to remain bogey-free after two rounds.

The Frenchman's highlight on Friday came in the form of an eagle on the par-five second, his 11th hole of the day having started at the 10th, which he followed up with a birdie.

"I'm playing really good," Guerrier is quoted as saying by the European Tour's official website.

"I made no bogeys so, in these conditions, in two rounds, to make no bogeys is really good.

"I come from La Rochelle, it's very windy so I think it helped me a lot. I also won the Amateur Championship so I think I like the windy conditions but it's just two rounds. There are two more rounds so the road is long."
