Jorge Campillo led the way in qualifying but there was late drama on the second day of the inaugural Belgian Knockout in Antwerp.
Spaniard Campillo fired a second successive score of 67 to sit atop of the leaderboard on eight under at the Rinkven International Golf Club, one shot clear of Englishman James Heath.
Belgian Thomas Detry was one of five players grouped together on six under, securing qualification for the nine-hole stroke play knockout rounds at the weekend.
Home favourites Nicolas Colsaerts and Thomas Pieters also progressed, finishing on three and two under respectively, as part of the top 64 who will take part in the next stage of the unique tournament.
However, with 56 players finishing at par or better, a group of 11 on one over had to return to the course in fading light to take part in a play-off.
Zimbabwean Scott Vincent, England's Laurie Canter and Jens Fahrbring of Sweden were the only players able to make birdies during the three extra holes, booking their places.
English duo Ryan Evans and Tom Lewis, Chilean Felipe Aguilar, South Korea's Jinho Choi and Romain Wattel of France also eventually went through, meaning Ryan Fox, Callum Shinkwin and Jordan Zunic were the unfortunate trio to miss out.
The first three knockout rounds will take place on Saturday, with the top 16 qualifiers seeded in the draw.
