Every struggling team needs a scapegoat, and Argentina has found one in manager Jorge Sampaoli.

According to Vavel.com, Argentina players will pick the squad Tuesday against Nigeria in an all-important match with Sampaoli no longer making decisions.

So far, through two matches in the 2018 World Cup at Russia, Argentina have mustered just one point with a 1-1 draw against Iceland and a 3-0 loss to Croatia.

Lionel Messi has failed to reach the heights that have made him a legend at club team Barcelona, failing to score a goal while also missing a penalty kick.

Argentina must beat Nigeria to have any chance at advancing past the group stage. They are currently last in Group D with one point and a negative-three goal differential.

Sampaoli has not started Juventus star Paulo Dybala in both games, so he could be a change the players make leading up to Tuesday's game. His club teammate Gonzalo Higuain also has largely been absent from the pitch during the World Cup.

Argentina nearly missed the World Cup altogether, needing a Messi hat-trick in the final qualifying match just to punch a ticket to Russia.

While the players on the pitch have looked lackluster and overwhelmed, it appears Sampaoli will be blamed for Argentina's early failures.
