American-born Malaysian youngster Wan Kuzain Wan Kamal has made his decision to play for the Harimau Malaya.

The matter was confirmed by Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Hamidin Amin, who said the 21-year-old midfielder has contacted national Under-23 head coach Ong Kim Swee.

Wan Kuzain, who is playing for Sporting Kansas City in the Major League Soccer, has expressed his desire to play for Malaysia, especially at the SEA Games, last month.

"Prior to this, Wan Kuzain was not interested [to play for Malaysia] but recently he has expressed his desire to represent Malaysia to Kim Swee.

"Therefore, we are in the midst of making preparations to bring him back to Malaysia to either play with the Harimau Malaya or the Under-23 squad," he told reporters after the opening of Johor Darul Ta’zim's headquarters in Gelang Patah on Wednesday.

It was reported that Wan Kuzain was in two minds on whether to play for Malaysia or the United States last year, saying he had not closed any doors on future national call-ups from the FAM.
