The United States women’s soccer team has won the 2018 CONCACAF Championship.

The USWNT captured its sixth ever title in the tournament with a 2-0 win over Canada on Wednesday at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. USA had already clinched a spot in the 2019 Women’s World Cup with a victory over Jamaica last weekend.

Midfielder Rose Lavelle put USA up for good in the second minute. She received the ball just outside of the box off a redirected cross and sent a left-footed shot past Canada goalie Stephanie Labbe and into the corner of the net.

The USWNT led the rest of the way.

Alex Morgan sealed the win with a goal in the 89th minute. She has tallied 24 scores in her last 24 appearances for the USA.

USA extended its unbeaten streak to 26 games with the victory. It hasn’t lost to Canada in the countries' last 34 matchups.

Canada entered Wednesday’s contest on a five-game winning streak. It had outscored opponents 25-1 in that span.

Canada also qualified for the 2019 World Cup when it defeated Panama 7-0 in the semifinals.
