Two U.S. men's national team stars shone brightly Tuesday in their club Champions League games.

Christian Pulisic netted the game winner to help German side Borussia Dortmund claim a 1-0 victory over Club Brugge. Pulisic, who has not featured for the USMNT for a few months due to injury, netted an 85th minute goal on his 20th birthday.

Meanwhile, American midfielder Weston McKennie enjoyed success in his Champions League debut, collecting an assist to help German side Schalke 04 draw 1-1 with FC Porto.

The USMNT, playing without Pulisic, lost 2-0 to Brazil earlier this month in a friendly, and it also beat Mexico 1-0 in a rivalry match.

Fans of American soccer are aware the team failed to reach the World Cup this summer for the first time since 1985. But guys like Pulisic and McKennie promise to ease the USMNT into a more competitive future.
