Malaysia will face Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos in Group A of the 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup after a draw was held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Wednesday.

It means except Laos, the Harimau Malaya will take on the same group opponents they faced in 2016, when they crashed out in the group stage.

"Malaysia are like underdogs because we have a new head coach [in me] and young players, who will be given the opportunity to gain experience at this tournament," said Malaysia head coach Tan Cheng Hoe after the draw.

"We will take one game at a time, and hopefully the players can play good football and win."

Malaysia's last and only Suzuki Cup triumph came in 2010, in which Tan was part of as he was assisting K. Rajagopal at that time.

In the other group, defending champions Thailand will take on Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, and Brunei or Timor-Leste, who will play in a two-legged qualification match.

This year's tournament, kicking off from November 8 to December 15, will be the first without any host nation and will see each team play two home and two away group fixtures.
