The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) on Wednesday launched a roadmap named F:30 with the ultimate aim of becoming Asia's top five giants by 2030.

FAM president Hamidin Amin said the F:30 was a symbol of FAM’s seriousness and the national body would embark on a comprehensive development plan at every level towards making Malaysia a footballing nation of repute.

"This roadmap is a national agenda, an agenda for all of us, for me, for FAM, for the stakeholders and the fans.

"If we want to realise this vision, we will have to ensure the participation of all parties in reaching this common objective.

"The core of this roadmap is to empower the affiliates from the perspective of human capital development and competition, the introduction of Malaysia football DNA through uniform coaching curriculum and strong grassroots development," he said during his speech at the F:30 launch event.

Also present at the event were FIFA president Gianni Infantino, FIFA secretary-general Fatma Samoura, FIFA council member Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, AFC president Shaikh Salman Ebrahim Al Khalifa, and AFC secretary-general Windsor John.

Infantino, who was in Kuala Lumpur for the first time as FIFA president, congratulated FAM on the launch of the F:30.

"Congratulations especially to Datuk Hamidin for launching the FAM's roadmap just three months after becoming FAM president.

"FIFA always supports and welcomes affiliates who demonstrate the passion of developing football at every level," he said.

The F:30 is a 12-year roadmap divided into three strategic plans with its first phase — from 2019 to 2022 — to build a solid foundation in terms of governance, competitions, human capital development and infrastructure.

It is followed by the second phase (2023-2026), which is to be an accomplished team at the Asian level, and the third phase (2027-2030) aimed at producing a national team of world class standard.
