Khairul Fahmi Che Mat confirmed he will be joining Melaka United in the upcoming mid-season transfer window.

The 29-year-old, who had spent the majority of his club career with Kelantan, was deemed surplus to requirements after a 4-1 hammering by PKNS in the FA Cup in March.

Since then he was dropped from the squad, with Fitri Che Soh and Shahrizan Ismail being preferred for goalkeeping duties.

He admitted it was a difficult decision to make but knew it was necessary for the sake of his career.

"Although it was sad and I was reluctant to leave Kelantan, I feel it is the best for my career.

"Thank you to Melaka United, especially Datuk Yusoff Mahadi, for believing in my ability.

"I will work hard to make it into the starting line-up and achieve the team targets set for this season," said Khairul.

He also thanked Kelantan for nine wonderful years, which saw him clinch various team and individual honours including a domestic treble in 2012.

"Thank you to the president [Bibi Ramjani] and the new KAFA management for giving me the opportunity to play for them. Also not forgetting the contributions and sacrifices of Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

"To all loyal TRW fans, thank you for standing behind me and supporting my football career. Please continue your support and I really appreciate it," he added.
