Malaysia Under-23s will take on Japan Under-23s in the Round of 16 of the men's football tournament at the 2018 Asian Games.
Japan finished second in Group D after losing their final group match 1-0 to group winners Vietnam on Friday.
As for Malaysia, they would go through as Group E winners regardless of their match result against Bahrain on Monday thanks to a superior head-to-head record.
Meanwhile, second-place South Korea, who lost to Ong Kim Swee's boys two days ago, need at least a draw against Kyrgyzstan to progress automatically to the knockout stage.
The Tigers' last Asian Games meeting with Japan was in 2010, when the latter won 2-0 in a group match en route to winning a gold medal.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 8:30pm (Malaysian time) this Friday at the Patriot Chandrabhaga Stadium.
