Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho believes Arsene Wenger will be the last man to stay at one club for a long period.

The Frenchman, who announced his decision to step down earlier this month, has been with Arsenal since 1996, overseeing 824 Premier League games to date and even breaking former United gaffer Sir Alex Ferguson's 810-game record.

In comparison, of all the current Premier League managers, the ones with the second-longest spells are Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe and Burnley's Sean Dyche, who have been in their respective stints since October 2012.

Ahead of Wenger's final visit to Old Trafford as the Gunners' manager on Sunday, Mourinho, who has never stayed for more than four seasons at a club, hinted of his envy of his opponent's longevity in an exclusive interview with Astro SuperSport.

"I hope it is just the end of his career at Arsenal, not as a manager, because I think he is too good and loves football too much to stop now," he said.

"I have to admit I feel sorry [about him leaving Arsenal] because he will be the last [long-serving manager] after Sir Alex's departure. It will be impossible for anyone of us to repeat the same kind of profile.

"After all I have done in football, changing clubs and countries, going everywhere, winning everywhere, I have to admit now that [the majority of us and] I would love to have the kind of job profile that Sir Alex and Arsene have had.

"Unfortunately, he will be the last because there is no chance [of that happening] and the media don't let it be possible anymore, with the way [they] influence public opinions.

"Also, some of the new owners don't really know the tradition, meaning and positive things of being a manager at a club for a long period."

The Portuguese also expressed his hope that the club and fans would give Wenger a grand farewell this Sunday.

"I think Manchester United are a big club, and big clubs need big rivals to be better and grow up," he added.

"So, I think Manchester United know the period especially until 2005-06 that Arsene Wenger and Arsenal were fundamental in being the big rivals of Manchester United and Sir Alex.

"By knowing that, I am pretty sure the club will show Arsene Wenger the respect he deserves with something nice waiting for him on Sunday."
