The largest Dota 2 amateur tournament in Malaysia saw 5 young men bring home RM 60,000 after besting Reborn in a close BO3 series.
The 3 days long tournament took place right at the main entrance of Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur, drawing in a great crowd. Despite being held outdoors, hiccups were minor and the weather blessed audience and players alike with light breezes and occasional rain.
After a long day of eliminations, Fantastic Gaming and Reborn battle it out on the main stage, with the first win going to Reborn but quickly they were taken down by Fantastic Gaming in the consecutive games, game 2 being the most memorable as FG executed amazing vacuums from Dark Seer into a stun from Sven, catching onto almost 4 heroes almost every fight Reborn tries to take.
Fantastic Gaming win RM 60,000 out of the total prize pool of RM 150,000 from the Dew Challenge. Hopefully we will see more amateur tournaments of this scale in Malaysia, and this was definitely a great start to see growth in the eSports scene locally.
