Australia captain Tim Paine lived up to his name on Saturday as he took a ball flush in the face during the ODI against England.

The wicketkeeper was left bloodied and reportedly had a tooth removed on the outfield after an Andrew Tye delivery bounced awkwardly in Cardiff.

Paine fell to the turf as his team-mates signalled for assistance, but the 33-year-old pulled himself up before a doctor arrived to check him over.

The incident had no impact on Paine's form - he pulled off a brilliant catch to dismiss Jason Roy (120) later in the same over.
