Kusal Mendis has replaced the injured Kusal Perera in Sri Lanka's squad for the Twenty20 internationals against Bangladesh.

Perera is yet to recover from the side strain he suffered playing against Zimbabwe in the one-day international tri-series that also involved hosts Bangladesh.

"According to medical advice, Perera needs more time to recover," Sri Lanka Cricket said in a statement.

Mendis has replaced his fellow batsman in a 15-man squad as Sri Lanka prepare to take on the Tigers in the shortest format in Mirpur on Thursday, before a second T20I in Sylhet three days later.

The 23-year-old Mendis has a top score of just 22 from eight innings in T20Is.
