Rishabh Pant has been named in India's squad for the opening two games of the upcoming one-day series against West Indies.

The uncapped Pant - who has already played both Test and Twenty20 cricket for his country - replaces Dinesh Karthik in a 14-man party for the fixtures in Guwahati and Visakhapatnam on October 21 and 24 respectively.

As expected, Virat Kohli returns to captain the team after the batsman was rested for India's successful campaign at the Asia Cup in September.

Injured all-rounders Kedar Jadhav and Hardik Pandya remain out of action, though the former could recover from a hamstring injury suffered in the Asia Cup final in time to feature in the remainder of the five-match series.

Mohammed Shami - whose last ODI appearance was on September 28 last year - is recalled, while left-arm paceman Khaleel Ahmed retains his place.

Seam duo Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah, meanwhile, are rested.

India squad: Virat Kohli (captain), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, Manish Pandey, MS Dhoni, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Khaleel Ahmed, Shardul Thakur, KL Rahul.
