Malaysian cricket fans took to social media in an attempt to keep the Kinrara Oval from being redeveloped.
A #SaveTheOval online campaign was started after Astro Arena reported the news on Tuesday about the Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) being ordered to vacate the premise in Puchong by the end of the month.
"Don't kill the game," urged Facebook user Jack Musa in a post that garnered 70 shares at the time of writing.
In another Facebook post written by Cricket Negeri Sembilan, the action of taking the ground away from cricketers was deemed to be "crazy".
"The sport of cricket in Malaysia has had to fend for and source for itself in order to feed its growth over the last decade to reach the Top 30 in the world!
"Perhaps other sports have gone through the same, but taking away the Oval is going to set cricket back by a decade!" read the post.
