- Former Man Utd defender thinks PSG coach is ideal for Old Trafford role
- Parker strongly against Jose Mourinho appointment
- Man Utd risk missing out on Champions League spot this season
- Uncertainty surrounding Louis van Gaal’s future
Who will be in the Man Utd hot seat next season – that’s the million dollar question on every football fan’s mind recently (ok at least Man Utd fans). Will Louis van Gaal stay on for another season? Will Jose Mourinho be appointed and polarize the supporters?
For former Man Utd right back Paul Parker, the answer to that question is: none of the above. The 2 time Premier League winner believes the right man for the job is currently plying his trade in Paris.
Parker, speaking on Astro SuperSport’s Champions League live coverage, reflected: “Laurent Blanc should come in to Manchester United and start from there”.
Blanc of course spent 2 seasons at Old Trafford, joining at the age of 35 but guiding the team to Premier League crown in the 2002-2003 season. As a coach, Blanc has been very successful in France, capturing 3 league titles with Paris Saint Germain and 1 with Bordeaux.
But if the club is unable to prize Blanc from the French capital, Parker would rather persist with the current regime.
The former England international added: “I’d rather him (Van Gaal) be there than Mourinho be there. Now we are seeing young players come through at United, more so by default. I want to see those young players integrated and nurtured in the right way. Mourinho comes in – its throw that one out, and bring in new ones”.
Mourinho has been out of a job since last December. The Portuguese was sacked 7 months after lifting the Premier League title with Chelsea.
Man Utd are 4 points off a Champions League spot, with 3 league matches remaining this season.
