Stephen Curry's emotional and expletive outburst during the third quarter of the Golden State Warriors' game three hammering of the Houston Rockets earned the superstar a scolding from his mother.

The two-time MVP was in electric form with a game-high 35 points – 18 of which came in the penultimate period – in the 126-85 rout at Oracle Arena as the Warriors' moved 2-1 ahead in the Western Conference finals series.

A charged-up Curry was so pumped up following a third-quarter floater that he took out his mouthpiece and yelled "this is my f****** house" towards the crowd.

And Curry's mother, while happy with her son's performance, was none too pleased with his coarse language.

Speaking to ESPN, Curry said: "I blacked out.

"She already sent me two home videos, showing me the clip and playing it back. She was telling me how I need to wash my mouth out, saying to wash it out with soap. It's a message I've heard before.

"She's right. I've got to do better. I can't talk like that."

Speaking at a post-game news conference, Curry explained his outburst was purely a way to psych himself up.

"A lot of it was just talking to myself, almost like you've got to be your biggest fan sometimes. No matter what questions I was being asked over the first two games or what the expectations was, I had the highest expectations for myself," he said.

"You've just got to find whatever you want to get going. I mean obviously it felt good and you want to use that energy to show your team-mates that you're here, you're with them, get the crowd into it.

"But it's one game, and you've got to have that same type of energy and intentions and focus the next game and the right approach. So, I did my job tonight. I've got to do it again."

Curry's impressive display earned praise from team-mate Draymond Green, who in an ominous warning to the Rockets insisted the 30-year-old has performed better.

"You know, I've seen those explosions happen here and everywhere," he said.

"It's not just here. Nonetheless, he definitely gets a lot of support from the fans. His three is similar to some people's dunk.

"You go to certain arenas and a guy gets a dunk and it's just absurd. That's how his three ball is.

"I think he had a great quarter there in that third quarter. I don't mean to disappoint, but I've seen crazier from him, but it was good to see."
