R.J. Barrett, the top prospect in the 2018 basketball recruiting class, chose Duke over Kentucky and Oregon Friday during a live announcement.

Barrett, a 6-6 forward from Montverde Academy in Florida, decided in July to reclassify into the 2018 class. He was originally ranked No. 1 overall in the 2019 class.

Originally from Mississauga, Canada, Barrett will head to Duke next year as a polished scorer and defender. He also became the Blue Devils' third recruit in the top 6 of the 2018 class, via 247 Composite Rankings, joining Cameron Reddish and Tre Jones.

Barrett is considered a one-and-done prospect oozing with NBA potential from the wing. Mike Krzyzewski has embraced college basketball's current ever-changing nature, so he should have no problem getting the best out of Barrett.
