Nick Gilbert, the son of Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert, is scheduled to undergo major brain surgery, ESPN.com reported.

Nick, a student at Michigan State University, was born with a nerve disorder called neurofibromatosis that causes tumors to grow anywhere in the body at any time. He will have the procedure at a Detroit-area hospital this week.

The Cavs tweeted their support early Monday.

Nick, 21, previously underwent one life-saving brain surgery more than 10 years ago. He has also had chemotherapy treatment on and off for 15 years.
