Celtics guard Terry Rozier is focusing on staying ready.
The 24-year-old’s playing time has fluctuated throughout the first four games of the season. He said Tuesday that his inconsistent role wasn’t “the easiest” to deal with.
“Me being a competitor and me being who I am, I wake up every day and want to be the best I can be, want to win and everything,” Rozier said (via NBC Sports Boston). "It’s tough when I don’t get the minutes that I may want.”
Rozier was on the floor for 26 minutes in Boston’s season-opening win but played just 16 in a loss to the Magic earlier this week.
The Celtics have a deep roster and Rozier said he understands coach Brad Stevens has a difficult job balancing the team’s minutes.
"Coach does not have the easiest job. He has the toughest job out of all of us,” Rozier said. "And I can respect that. I control what I control. I still come in every day and I bust my butt because I know it may be different (in our next game).”
Rozier was selected by the Celtics in the first round of the 2015 draft. He averaged 11.3 points and started 19 games in the playoffs for Boston last season.
