Rose absent from Knicks game and Hornacek unsure why

Derrick Rose missed the New York Knicks' loss to the New Orleans Pelicans at Madison Square Garden on Monday and the team, including coach Jeff Hornacek, apparently did not know why.

The Knicks announced just before tipoff that Rose was not with the team.

The announcement came roughly an hour before Hornacek told reporters everybody on the roster was available to play except for forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas.

Hornacek did not provide any clues following Monday's 110-96 home loss to the Pelicans.

"I can't comment on it," the Knicks coach told reporters. "It's as simple as that. We don't have enough information to comment on anything.

"Right now we don’t have information to give you anything. That’s just going to have to wait until we hear from Derrick himself. We're not going to go into it. Everything will become clear later on."

Knicks team-mate Joakim Noah said he spoke to Rose after the game.

"He's OK," Noah said.

According to The Vertical, team officials, team-mates and close associates were unclear of the reason for Rose's absence.

Rose is making just over $21million this season but is a free agent next season.
