Clint Capela will remain with the Houston Rockets after they agreed a five-year deal.

The Rockets announced the deal, reportedly worth $90million, on Friday.

Center Capela is coming off of a career year in which he averaged 13.9 points, 10.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks.

He was a restricted free agent, but he did not sign offer sheet with another team.

The 24-year-old reportedly turned down a five-year, $85 million offer in early July and was rumoured to be seeking a contract similar to the four-year, $100 million deal center Steven Adams signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

"I'm happy for him man," team-mate and NBA MVP James Harden told reporters.

"This is an opportunity for him, obviously to play the game of basketball, but to be able to provide for your family for generations, that's what we do it for."
