One of the few remaining free agents is off the NBA market.

The Pelicans signed defensive specialist Tony Allen to one-year deal on Monday, according to The Vertical. Allen, a three-time first-team All-Defensive member, will help New Orleans deal with the loss of forward Solomon Hill (hamstring surgery).

The Pelicans have put together a solid supporting cast around big men Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins. In addition to Allen, Rajon Rondo and Ian Clark will look to lead New Orleans back to the playoffs.

Allen, 35 averaged 9.1 points and 5.5 rebounds in 71 games (66 starts) for the Grizzlies last season. He could start at the small forward position for the Pelicans and is expected to see just under 30 minutes per game.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed. The Clippers and Timberwolves expressed interest in Allen this offseason.
