The Greg Monroe express is starting to fill up with suitors.

The Suns center agreed Wednesday to a contract buyout on the remainder of his $17.8 million salary this season, sending him to unrestricted free agency once he clears waivers on Friday.

Monroe, 27, is averaging 10.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game this season, and has drawn the interest of the Celtics and Pelicans. But according to ESPN.com, New Orleans is gaining "significant momentum".

The report stated that Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry spoke to Monroe late Wednesday night explaining a starting spot is open after DeMarcus Cousins' serious Achilles injury.

Though Monroe has struggled to find his form this season, he has averaged 13.9 points and 8.7 rebounds per game throughout his career.

Monroe would also see significant playing time in Boston, but likely as a backup behind Al Horford. The Celtics lack frontcourt depth, so Monroe could be a valued asset as they try to make a run to the Finals.
