Oldenburg and Kataja claim overtime wins

Oldenburg and Kataja claimed dramatic overtime Basketball Champions League victories at the expense of Rosa Radom and Le Mans respectively on Wednesday.

Rosa appeared to be heading for a second Group C victory out of three when they led 52-38 at the start of the fourth quarter, but the German side came roaring back to prolong the match by levelling at 59-59.

Oldenburg maintained their momentum to seal a 70-66 victory on the road, with Frantz Massenat's three-pointer putting them ahead and Rosa Radom unable to claw their way back.

Kataja ended Le Mans' perfect start, edging a tense 77-76 victory to get up and running in Group B.

Le Mans led 76-74 with only four seconds to play in the extra period, but Daniel Mullings was on target with a lay-up and with the free throw after he was fouled to put Kataja in front.

The Finnish side were able to revel in a stunning win after Le Mans failed to come up with a response at the other end.

Banvit made it three wins out of three in Group A by seeing off previously unbeaten Czech champions CEZ Nymburk 75-69, Gediminas Orelik starring with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Neptunas Klaipeda top Group C with a 100 per cent record following their 81-67 success over French champions ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne, while Frankfurt, Aris, Khimik Yuzhny and Mornar Bar recorded wins.

Usak Sportif, Ludwigsburg and Dinamo Sassari were also victorious.
