Nets forward Kenneth Faried was arrested Sunday in New York for unlawful possession of marijuana, according to the Southampton (N.Y.)  Town Police Department, via ESPN.

Faried was pulled over Sunday at a sobriety checkpoint in Bridgehampton, N.Y., when officers allegedly noticed "a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle."

The Nets forward was then arrested on a misdemeanor charge of fourth-degree possession of marijuana, which is for those allegedly in possession of two or more ounces of the drug.

Two other men were arrested at the scene as well, though they were released on location.

Faried was taken to jail where he was processed and released on $500 bail.

Brooklyn acquired Faried in a trade with the Nuggets in July. He spent his first seven seasons in Denver.

The Nets released a statement about the incident saying they "are in the process of gathering more information at this time."

The 28-year-old forward averaged 11.4 points and 8.2 rebounds during his time with Denver. He has one year remaining on the four-year, $50 million contract he signed in 2015.
