The Raptors may not be done overhauling their roster this offseason.
Toronto acquired former Spurs star Kawhi Leonard, along with Danny Green, in exchange for DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a protected first-round pick earlier this week. Toronto is now looking to make a trade in an effort to cut salary, according to a report from ESPN.
The report did not specify which players the Raptors could look to move. But, forward Serge Ibaka has two years and $44.94 million left on the contract he signed with Toronto in July 2017 while center Jonas Valanciunas is set to make a little more than $16.5 million next season. Valanciunas also holds a player option for 2019-20.
Leonard signed a five-year contract worth more than $90 million with the Spurs in 2015. But he appeared in just nine games for San Antonio last season because of an injured right quad.
Leonard reportedly demanded a trade out of San Antonio after he had a tense relationship with the team during his rehab process. He has averaged 16.3 points and 6.2 rebounds over his seven-year career.
The Raptors finished 2017-18 with a 59-23 record and earned the top seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. After topping the Wizards in their first-round series, the Raptors were swept by the Cavaliers.
Toronto dismissed former coach Dwane Casey in mid-May and hired Nick Nurse to replace him.
