The Pistons are trading center Willie Reed to the Bulls for guard Jameer Nelson.

According to a report from Yahoo Sports, the Pistons are largely making the trade to address some of the issues they had at guard this season. The teams will also be swapping second-round picks in 2022.

Detroit recently traded guard Avery Bradley and forward Tobias Harris to the Clippers in return for Blake Griffin. They have also dealt with injury issues with Reggie Jackson all year long.

Jackson has played just 33 games this season, and while he has performed well on the court averaging 14.6 points and 5.5 assists, he needs to play more to make his five-year, $80 million contract worth it.

At the very least right now the Pistons alleviate some of the stress of being without Jackson by adding Nelson who is averaging 5.1 points and 3.6 assists per game this year.

As for Reed, the center will make his way to his third team in the last two weeks as he came over to the Pistons in the trade for Griffin with the Clippers. He was recently handed a six-game suspension for a "domestic violence incident" which occurred when he was with the Heat in August.
