As the LeBron James free agency rumors continue to heat up, a new development was revealed Friday involving the Lakers and Lonzo Ball.
If James decides to opt into his player option for the 2018-19 season with the Cavaliers, the Lakers would be willing to trade Ball to Cleveland for James, according to ESPN's Chris Haynes.
"The one constant that I've heard is Lonzo Ball," Haynes said on a potential piece the Lakers would move for James.
Ball struggled in his rookie season, shooting 36 percent from the field and missing several games to recover from a left knee injury. He finished the season averaging 10.2 points, 7.2 assists, 6.9 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game.
James has to inform the Cavs whether he intends to opt out of the final year of his contract with the team and become a free agent by 11:59 p.m. ET on June 29.
Although it's all speculation now, James said earlier this month that he "has no idea" what his decision will be. He did say, however, that his family will be a big factor in where he ends up next.
