The Suns are looking to acquire Patrick Beverley from the Clippers.

Phoenix has been exploring the trade market for a veteran point guard and Beverley is its top target, according to a report from Stadium. But Los Angeles is asking for a first-round pick in exchange for the 30-year-old, while the Suns have only offered a second-round selection, the report says.

Beverley appeared in just 11 games for the Clippers in 2017-18 as his season was cut short because of a right knee injury.

Beverley spent his first five NBA seasons with the Rockets before he was sent to Los Angeles as part of the Chris Paul deal. He has averaged 9.4 points and made 37.6 percent of his 3-pointers in 302 career games.

The Suns traded guard Brandon Knight, along with Marquese Chriss, to the Rockets in late August in exchange for Ryan Anderson and De'Anthony Melton.

Knight averaged 11 points and 2.4 assists in 54 games with Phoenix last season.

The Suns signed star Devin Booker to a five-year, $158 million contract extension this offseason. They also added No. 1 overall pick Deandre Ayton and acquired former Villanova wing Mikal Bridges in a draft-day deal.

Booker underwent hand surgery earlier this month and will miss about six weeks.
