The Warriors have breezed through their competition in the NBA playoffs thus far, going a record 12-0 in three straight sweeps. Most of that stretch was done without their head coach, Steve Kerr, on the bench as he coached only the team's first two playoff games.

Golden State will get some additional rest before the NBA Finals, which start June 1 at the earliest. But even the added rest may not be enough for Kerr, who told ESPN after Monday night's win that he's still "day by day."

According to the report, Kerr is still experiencing "a significant amount of pain and discomfort" in his back, which required surgery two years ago. Many thought Kerr had been improving as he's traveled with the team to San Antonio, but he's not improved to the point where he feels comfortable returning to the bench.

Even though Kerr is not on the sideline during games, he's still been offering his thoughts during practice and video review.

Acting coach Mike Brown has done as good of a job as you can ask, going 10-0 in his tenure during the playoffs. As long as Golden State stays winning, there's no hurry for Kerr to come back. Even if they lose, Kerr's long-term health and comfort is above anything else.
