Wizards guard Jodie Meeks will be suspended 25 games without pay for violating the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug program, immediately removing him from the team's playoffs roster the day before the first round begins, ESPN.com reported Friday, citing unidentified league sources.

According to the report, Meeks, 30, tested positive for banned compounds Ipamorelin and Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-2, and an official announcement is expected Friday.

The eighth-seeded Wizards open the Eastern Conference playoffs Saturday in Toronto against the top-seeded Raptors.

"It is regrettable that the NBA has prematurely taken action against Jodie today. Accordingly, we will appeal the suspension and vigorously defend Jodie's rights," his attorney, Ben Levine, told ESPN. "Unfortunately, under the CBA, a player is guilty until proven innocent and while Jodie's appeal is pending he will be forced to sit out the playoffs."

Meeks averaged 6.3 points in 14.5 minutes over 77 games in his first season with the Wizards, serving as Bradley Beal's primary backup at shooting guard

A second-round pick (41st overall) by the Bucks in 2009, Meeks is playing for his sixth NBA team and has averaged 9.3 points per game.
